Toward the end of last year, our Board of Directors spent a lot of time talking about what makes WWCMA special. The word community resonated powerfully with all of us because we learn more, feel more fulfilled, can accomplish greater things when we do it together.
Thank you to those who participated in our survey, offered feedback to one of our committee chairs or shared ideas at an event. We’ve taken a thoughtful approach to incorporating your suggestions, aligning them with market needs and then defining our value. What’s clear is that we aim to be the premier community for worksite wellness, thought leadership, innovation, connections, best practices and learning.
How will we fulfill our mission moving forward? We will focus on education in ways that will help us all succeed professionally and personally. This means hosting programs with valuable content that you can share with others in your network, adding to your thought leadership. We’re also working on more opportunities to form connections beyond networking events.
We also heard that the fall is a very busy time of year for HR/Benefits professionals. Therefore, we’re moving our annual conference to spring 2021 and will continue to host a variety of programs this year that will keep us all connected while offering plenty of opportunities for learning.
As a community, we will learn from each other and challenge ourselves to be our very best. Coretta Scott King said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”
While we will share more details about our future plans within the next several weeks, my ask to you is simple. Make a commitment to playing an active role in our growth and evolution. Think about the ways you will invest in yourself and your community, how you will stretch yourself, reach out, and connect with others. There will be lots of opportunities this year and you don’t want to miss out!
As always, please reach out to me or any of our Board Members with your thoughts and suggestions. We’re all in this together.
