Emotional Health in the COVID Era

With COVID-19 extending longer than anyone might have hoped, feelings of anxiety and depression are naturally having a psychological impact on many of us. In our recent Emotional Health webinar, Kristin Matthews from KGA and Nina Dickerman from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute shared how businesses are supporting employees during this difficult time. Their remarks highlighted four principles of leadership that are integral to success including: practicing compassion, fostering trust with employees, establishing stability through clear policies and structures, and creating a positive atmosphere based on honest communications. Employees report wanting to know that their employer is optimistic about the future as well as feel a sense of community. Other strategies included encouraging employees to take care of themselves and recognizing employee successes both big and small.

What’s your passion when it comes to wellness?

Wellness covers so many areas - physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and occupational. I am passionate about sharing wellness strategies and tools with others based on life-changing benefits from taking care of my own body by maintaining a healthy diet, keeping a consistent exercise routine, and practicing daily stress management focused on meditation, breath work and positive affirmations. I am a trained Resilience Coach and Facilitator, who is enthusiastic about helping clients become more resilient and showing them how to THRIVE from challenge and adversity!

What have been the benefits of your Council involvement?

Volunteering on the Marketing Committee has been great. Developing newsletter articles about WWCMA webinars and events to let members know more about what the Council has to offer is a great way to stay informed and connected. I’m learning a lot about promoting WWCMA through social media posts, newsletter and website articles!
